In the beer dispensing industry the 5/8" BSP thread is widely used throughout all fittings such as keg couplers, beer tap shanks and many other fittings.
That being said, 5/8" BSP threads are not commonly used outside of this adaptor, making it easy to convert to the more commonly utilized 1/2" BSP thread. This allows for a wider range of plumbing fittings from the hardware store to be used. The adaptor features a female 5/8" BSP on one end (for screwing onto keg couplers or tap shanks) and a 1/2" BSP on the other end.
